Dear LA TRI FAMILY,
We are writing to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to sunset and discontinue the LA Tri Series at Bonelli Park. This was not an easy choice and didn’t come without giving it a solid go to see if we could increase the numbers closer to when it was in its heyday.
This is a historic event started and nurtured in the heyday of triathlon, and most of the who’s who of triathletes and duathletes have competed here over the years. Since 1983, this event has been an anchor to the sport, but since COVID, it has become too expensive and difficult to maintain. Over the years, attendance had begun to decline. Our team put in a lot of work, and while attendance increased somewhat since we took it over, it didn’t rise high enough to make it feasible, largely due to increased costs, including county park fees and fees from the surrounding cities.
We truly appreciate your support and enthusiasm for the LA Tri Series over the years, and we wish you the best on your triathlon journey.
